Vine Linux 5.0が8/25にリリースされました。
CD1枚ではなく、DVD1枚になってしまいましたが、DVDイメージ1GB程度とコンパクトに収められています。
Vineの良さは健在です。最小構成で導入するとsshdも起動していないｗ

Vine Linux 5.0のポイントとして以下が挙げられています。
* 軽量・高速
* 収録ソフトウエアの刷新
* x86_64 アーキテクチャ対応
* ルック＆フィールの改善
* ユーザフレンドリなツール群
* USB/DVD 用インストールイメージの提供

個人的興味は、「パッケージ管理ツール・機構の拡充」の以下のところでしょうか。
* 自動パッケージ生成
- self-build システムにより配布に制限のあるパッケージなどをインストール時に自動的にビルドしてインストール
* 動的なカーネルモジュール生成
- dkms による自動的なカーネルモジュールの生成

標準ファイルシステムがext4になってしまっているのは好きになれない。。。
とりあえず環境は作ってみたので、何が変わったか見ていきます。
今回はあまり興味もてなくて申し訳ないです。

CentOS5.3の1CDを作りつつ疑問。。。
CentOS5.3のインストーラのパッケージグループ選択画面で、Virtualizationが表示されない。
CD内にRPMパッケージは存在するし、comps.xmlにも記述は存在している。
悩みつつ、anacondaのコードを読んでみる事にしました。

わかればなんて事はない。
yuminstall.pyにそれらしい記述があります。
対応しているか判定しているなんて、anacondaも賢くなったものです。

ちなみに私、Python読むのはAnacondaが初めてであります。

予想より早かったRed Hat Enterprise Linux 4.8です。

私は、CentOS4.8待ちです。

今更ながら入れてみましたHP Insight Control Environment for Linux。
中身は、NagiosとHP Systems Insight Managerっぽいですが。
興味は、「複数のLinuxサーバ環境で、スクリプトの実行、イメージの取得や配備、インストールなどをカスタマイズして実行するための、高速でスケーラブルな統合配備機能」でして。。。

ぽちぽちと、CentOS4.7に導入。。。
# ./install.sh をぽちっと。
導入は10分程度で完了。なんとなく動作してる感。
で、デプロイはどんな感じでしょかね～。試しはまた明日。

CentOS4系でanaconda-runtimeのbuildinstallでanacondaを再構築すると、確実にCDが認識出来なくなる訳で。
症状はCD直下に置かれる.diskinfoファイルを疑っていたのですが。
i586用のinitrdで起動するとCDが認識する為、どうやら作成されるinitrdが腐っている模様。
で問題は、initrd内に存在する.buildstampの一行目が元の値から変更されるとCDが認識出来なくなっている事が判明。

Anacondaのコードを見る限り、1行目は読み込みのみで判定している様子は無さそうなのですが、編集しinitrdを戻してやるとCDが認識する為、この箇所が問題なのまでは解るのですが。。。
CentOS4系のanaconda-runtimeのbuildinstallのこの現象について、いまいち情報がなさげで微妙感です。

待ちに待ったCentOS 5.3リリース。（3/31）
ミラーサイトのミラー化も、あちこち進んでるっぽいので、入手は容易でしょう。
基本的にnetinstall.isoしかダウンロードしないので、実際に走らせないとミラー完了してるかわかりませんが。。。

リリースノート（かなり前からありますが。。。翻訳し直されたらしい。。。）

翻訳者曰く、らしいです。

問題点があります。タイムゾーンを KickStart 中で指定できません。
これは RHEL 5 Update 3 でも発生する既知の問題点です。
なんじゃ、そりゃ。グリニッジ標準どんだけ～。
エイプリルフールネタじゃありません。 

RedHat Enterpriseをベースとされたディストリビューションとしては、CentOSが一般的？になっていますが。
5.3ベースのものは、なかなかリリースされません。
Scientific Linuxは、5.3ベースのモノがリリースされたようですので、5.3ベースを体感するには此方を選択するしかなさそうです。

個人的には、CentOSよりScientific Linuxの方が好きなのですが、CentOSの方が日本国内では有名だし、説明がラクだし。。。
はやくCentOS5.3出て欲しいものです。

どうやら以下の様子。。。らしぃ。
そろそろ出てくるかと。。。
リリースノートを見る限り、ガラッと変わる訳でもなさそうです。

In the mean time, the 5.3 work is now back in full swing from my side and 
we should see package movement today for QA to start doing their thing. 
There were some confusing issues w.r.t the buildsystem which I was unable 
to clear with Tru before flying out and thats the direct and only reason 
he did not push the packages out. Completely my fault.
